Along with your Boomerang Getaway comes a discount on all resort activities. Boar’s Head was recently rated a top-25 tennis resort in the world and our tennis and squash facilities offer ongoing clinics, or you can book your own court time. Those looking to relax and rejuvenate will revel in our newly renovated spa that sits on the quiet edge of Heritage Lake. Presidential Tours

Tour some of the region’s historic, presidential homes: Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, James Monroe’s Highland, and James Madison’s Montpelier.

It's possible to visit all three homes in one day, but you might consider adding a special stop for lunch at Michie Tavern, a colonial-era tavern known for its delicious fried chicken and other southern specialties.

And for those who are particularly fond of Mr. Jefferson, you may also want to make time to visit the Rotunda at UVA – one of Jefferson’s most acclaimed architectural designs.

Driving Tours

Some of America’s most scenic country drives are all within a few miles of your hotel room. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway meet at the top of Afton Mountain just a few miles from the resort, and both offer spectacular views. This is wine country, and you can discover the birthplace of American wine by following the Monticello Wine Trail. If beer is more your taste, Charlottesville has six craft breweries within two mile of each other. Adult drink connoisseurs will also enjoy the Nelson 151 driving tour that leads guests to cideries, wineries, breweries and more!

Visit the Orchards

The orchards come alive every summer with live music, adult drinks and food trucks. Grab a bag head to the fields to pick your own, or the less adventurous can purchase some of our locally grown produce directly from the orchard.

Carter Mountain Orchard is centrally located and near several other amenities in Charlottesville and sits high atop a mountain providing outstanding views. Chiles Family Orchards resides in the valley and is surrounded by towering Blue Ridge Mountains. Both offer exceptionally memorable experiences.

Take a Hike!

Experience the nature of the Charlotteville! Hiking in our area is abundant. For closer ventures, view our resort trail map. One of the most unique hikes in area, The Blue Ridge Tunnel is an easy stroll that leads guests through a one-mile abandoned railroad tunnel. Not far from there is Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Both have miles of trails for all skill levels. Ivy Creek Natural Area is a nice spot for a quiet walk through the forest and Ragged Mountain Reservoir offers a 6-mile loop hike around a lake that resides adjacent to Boar’s Head property.

Shop C'ville

Charlottesville has two distinctly different shopping options. The Shops at Stonefield is the area’s premier shopping center and has an elegant mix of retail shopping, dining and entertainment all in an outdoor mall setting where shoppers will find lots of modern stores and amenities. To experience the quaintness of C’ville, guests will adore the historic downtown mall that features a vibrant collection of shops and restaurants housed in historic buildings along the city’s Main Street.

Arts & Museums

The arts are alive in Charlottesville! The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia encourages the spirit of curiosity and promotes diversity of thought through the study, care and celebration of art. The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art collection also resides at UVA and is the only museum outside of Australia dedicated to the exhibition and study of Indigenous Australian art. And if you want to tag the kids along, the Virginia Discovery Museum is the place to be. This interactive space is conveniently located in the Downtown Mall with lots of nearby restaurants and shopping opportunities.
