Charlottesville Fitness Center

Premier Facilities and Professional Staff

Overlooking a beautiful vista, our Charlottesville fitness center offers ellipticals, arc trainers, treadmills, steppers, bikes, free weights, power rack and Cybex equipment. With a professional staff and certified professionals, we are here to assist you in achieving your personal best, no matter your current fitness level.             

Please ask the fitness staff for assistance when needed.  We do recommend that everyone meet with a personal trainer at least once.

As advocates for fitness, we established the Teen Workout program for children 12 to 15 years of age. Our qualified staff oversees Teen Workouts to instruct teens on the proper use of equipment, document correct seat adjustments, and record the appropriate resistance amounts. The goal of Teen Workout is certification, which allows a teen to use the fitness room whenever a parent is present. In order to use the workout room before the age of 16, Teen Workout participation is required. If attending Teen Workout for the first time, a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver before participating.Teen workourts run from 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. during the weekdays; 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sundays. 

Group Exercise

Boar's Head offers three exercise studios with choices of over 45 classes per week, including Barre, Pilates, step, interval training, strength, water aerobics, yoga and cycle classes, administered by certified professionals. Fees apply (classes are free for club members; a $15 charge per class will be applied to the hotel guests' bill).

If you are attending a group exercise class for the first time, please notify the instructor.  He/she will help guide you through your first class so that you feel comfortable and are able to gain the most benefit. Please be sure to sign the attendance sheet posted on the clipboard located in each exercise studio every time you participate in a class. For your safety and the consideration of others, please arrive for class on-time. 

Pilates one-on-one sessions are required before attending our group classes. Please contact one of the fitness staff for more information.

Personal Training

Personal training is available to guests of all fitness levels and our dedicated professionals are here to provide tailored expertise in order to help you reach your goals.

The cost of personal training is dependent upon the duration of the session and the number of people training at one time. For more information or to make an appointment, please contact the Fitness Office at 434.972.7454.

We implement a 24-hour cancellation policy for all personal training sessions, pilates private sessions and pilates reformer classes.


The Boar's Head Sports Club offers Stott Pilates mat and reformer classes. One-on-one sessions, 3-4 person group reformer sessions as well as mat classes are currently offered.

Both Mat Pilates and Reformer group classes require a one-on-one session prior to taking class or previous pilates experience. Please contact the fitness department with questions.

Sports Club Gym and Rock Climbing Wall

The gym and rock climbing wall are additional kid-friendly ventures at the Sports Club. For more information about use of the rock climbing wall, call (434) 972-2237. 

The Sports Club Gym includes a full basketball court and ample recreation space for other games and activities. Balls and other games are available.
