Movin’ Mama's Wellness Retreat

Active-Living Stay Retreat

Make it a movin' weekend at one of the region's top destinations for health and wellness. This unique retreat is geared toward active-minded moms with childcare readily available for an additional fee of $15/hour for one child or $25/hour with a sibling. While the moms are enjoying their weekend, dads can also enjoy an array of recreational opportunities including daily drop-in tennis clinics or our new Birdwood Golf Course designed by Davis Love III. The dynamic schedule for Movin' Mamas weekend is designed to keep your mind and body active throughout your stay, but you’ll also have plenty of down time to enjoy our resort amenities or many of the several attractions that Charlottesville has to offer. 

Friday, November 6

6:30 p.m. – Dinner & Seminar
Start your stay with a casual dinner and nutrition seminar at the Birdwood Bar and Grill while enjoying our rolling landscape. Your meal will include a protein-infused salad entrée and glass of wine while Elizabeth Newton, registered dietitian for UVA Health, speaks to the group about family nutrition. Come early and bring your putter for our complimentary round of putting at our family-friendly, 18-hole putting course just off the patio of Birdwood Grill. 

Saturday, November 7

10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Workout on Fitness Island
It’s time to get your heart rate moving! We’ll meet at The Sports Club and take a short hike to Fitness Island which is our dedicated outdoor fitness green located along the Boar’s Head Trail system. This will be a bootcamp-style workout catered to all fitness levels.

4:30 p.m to 5: 30 p.m – Namaste with Rosé 
The Overlook is an elevated outdoor exercise locale between Boar’s Head Sports Club and Birdwood golf course. This hilltop venue is the perfect spot for Namaste with Rosé which is our one-hour yoga session that comes complete with a glass of wine and wonderful views of our rolling landscape. Rest your mind and body and prepare to wind down your day. 


Sunday, November 8

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - Les Mills RPM 
RPM is an upbeat and inspirational cycle class that will spin you to a healthy journey back home. 

9:30 a.m. – Smoothies and Wellness Seminar
We’ll meet at Racquets Restaurant at The Sports Club and join Emily Anne, our manager of health and wellness, for a taste of some of her favorite smoothie recipes while using this time to talk about an array of health-related topics including goal setting, nutrition for your family and balancing your own routines while striving for a healthier overall family life. 

Sunday Afternoon

For those choosing to extend their stay another day, there is an option for a Sunday afternoon hike to Humpback Rock. (additional fee of $60)
