Our experienced coaching staff will provide age-specific, individualized training for all athletes with an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. This six-week session is an extension of our year-round program and maintains the standards and values of the sport of competitive swimming. Current Boar’s Head Lead USA Coaches Lauren Gander, Erin Lawson, Lindsey Paulson, Bethany Kennon and Nate Skroban will be overseeing this spring program.

This group will also be expected to show a respectful and positive attitude at practice. Multi sport athletes are openly welcomed, as practice schedules are flexible with morning and afternoon options. Swimming in the morning (if chosen) will condition your child to a future high school practice routine. Our coaches make it a priority to encourage a lifelong love for the sport. We currently provide a twice weekly option for those swimmers looking to continue year-round training, but who also require flexibility with scheduling. Swimmers are encouraged to attend their practices consistently and to show support for their teammates. Our coaching staff makes it a priority to model safe, responsible behavior. We believe that this age group specifically needs positive role models as they transition to high school. Morning and evening practice times are available, each lasting 90 minutes.

Pre-Senior (8th-10th Grade – Up to five practices per week)

Predominantly made up of ages 13 - 15. These swimmers train with a focus on stroke technique, aerobic endurance, and increasingly more complex practice sets to build upon the skills they already possess. We introduce this group to a more rigorous training program in order to prepare them at the state level, if they so desire. Swimmers in this group will receive the additional coaching necessary to be competitive in both the USA as well as local high school programs. Coaches will occasionally combine this group with the Senior/National group for practice. This encourages team camaraderie and allows coaches to get to know more swimmers on a daily basis. Our coaches want your swimmer(s) to develop lasting friendships and will accommodate practice groups when possible so friends can swim together. Practice lasts 90 minutes or two hours, and swimmers are expected to attend an average of four practices per week. Many options are available in order to provide flexibility. We encourage our swimmers to participate in other activities they enjoy.

Primarily consists of ages 15 (minimum age of 13 with coaches’ recommendation) and older swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to advance their competitive swimming career. Workouts are designed to challenge athletes to develop their abilities in order to compete at their highest individual level possible. This group is for those swimmers who are qualifying for senior championship level meets and interested in reaching goals of competing at the national level. Coaches work closely with each athlete to reach personalized goals, appropriate for each athlete’s specific skill level and maturity. Stroke technique remains a cornerstone. Emphasis is placed on leadership and community service, creating a positive environment for well-rounded young adults. Coaches will also work towards qualifying as many swimmers as possible to become USA Scholastic All Americans. Swimming in college (if desired) is another main objective and assistance with the recruiting process is offered to all group members. Practices last two hours and swimmers are expected to commit to four to five practices per week. Dryland training is also incorporated to increase athletes’ overall strength and conditioning. Several practice options (morning and evening) are available in order to accommodate multi-sport athletes and those who exhibit a broad range of interests.
