"I stayed at the Boar's Head one night for a retreat. It was absolutely beautiful and had everything I needed. My room's view was of the lake, and it was gorgeous. The front desk staff were very polite and made for an easy check-in. Anything that I needed (which mostly consisted of coffee and things coffee-related) I could find or was helped with ease. I wish I could have stayed longer! I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!"--TripAdvisor, April 2017
"Highly recommend this resort! We booked it for a last minute, midweek trip to Charlottesville and fell in love with the location! We had a lakeview room that was extremely peaceful. The room itself was very up to date and clean, the bed very comfortable! It is more of a village than a hotel which makes it extremely quaint and unique. We unfortunately did not have enough time to eat at the resort restaurants but we hope to get that chance next time! We did use the complimentary bikes to explore the grounds which was a nice perk. Hope to stay again soon!"--TripAdvisor, March 2017
"The Boar's Head Inn was the perfect mother-daughter getaway destination. We visited 2 nearby breweries prior to checking in. After checking in, we parked and shopped the historic downtown mall area. Back at the resort, we dined in the bistro and were very pleased with the delicious salmon choice. Our room was spacious, comfortable and impeccably decorated. The next morning we worked out in the sports club which was very impressive. We grabbed coffees and a breakfast burrito in the cafe there, which was very good!"--TripAdvisor, March 2017
"Great Family Vacation...Visiting Charlottesville with little kids to show them alma mater and give them a taste of UVA. Kids loved getting back to the Boar's Head every day for basketball, climbing wall and tennis. Really comfortable and spacious rooms. Beautiful grounds."--TripAdvisor, March 2016
"One of the Best Dinners Ever. What a beautiful room with such friendly and attentive service. I tried the appetizer Macaroni and Cheese and it was so delicious. I chose the Rock Fish entree and it was so well prepared. This is a place with delicious food, great service and a beautiful and serene environment which adds to a wonderful evening. I will definitely return."--TripAdvisor, March 2016
"Experience the Virginia I remember as a Child...I stayed in a room with a balcony over the lake in the Main Inn. I had not stayed at Boars Head in probably 20 years, and it felt like coming home! I grew up in Virginia, went to UVA for college, and spent my youth on school trips to Williamsburg and Monticello. There is a "Virginia feel" to those places that is replicated perfectly at Boars Head. The subtle elegance, the architecture, the lighting - this is Virginia in the way I hope everyone gets to experience it. I only wish I had had more time to relax and enjoy my stay."--TripAdvisor, February 2016
"Amazing Inn and Spa...The Boar's Head is a jewel in Charlottesville! Every staff member we met was very friendly and helpful...Can't wait to stay here again!"--TripAdvisor, January 2016
Winter Wonderland...Great place to stay right before Christmas. The decorations are spectacular and very festive. Afternoon tea by the fireside is a plus as are the walking trails over the property. Rooms are modern, clean and one can reach the main building through clearly posted signage without having to go outside too much. Nice big mugs are provided for morning coffee which is set up in the lounge.--TripAdvisor, December 2015
"WOW! After coming to the Boar's Head Inn and Spa to relax after our daughter's wedding, we were completely rejuvenated. Juleigh was my massage therapist and gave the most relaxing, yet stimulating Apple / Pear scrub and hot stone massage!! My husband had the 80 minute sports massage. OOOH LA LA! The atmosphere is lovely, restful, quiet, yet not pretentious. The nearby adult pool added just the cool freshness we needed for a hot July visit and for exhilirated, but tired MOB and FOB."--TripAdvisor Guest, July 2016
"After an exhaustive search for the perfect anniversary get away, my husband and I decided on the Boar's Head. From the minute we arrived, to the end of our stay, we were very impressed with all the services we received such as the quality of our accommodations, the friendly staff, and the delicious meals. The hotel provided a special surprise by having chocolate dipped strawberries delivered to our room. We also chose several spa services which contributed to our overall feelings of being pampered and well cared for...we enjoyed our visit so much, we hope to make it a yearly tradition!"--TripAdvisor Guest, February 2016
"...the entire staff at the Boar's Head Inn provided an exceptional experience for my youngest son's wedding... The Original Ballroom was the perfect venue providing a warm and elegant feel to the Wedding - a roaring fire provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, and then the room was transformed for the reception with a beautiful sitting area with chairs, couches, tables, etc. in front of the fire for our guests to enjoy - beautiful. Enough about the beautiful venue - the food is over the top! Midway through the meal we had guests catching our eye and whispering - this is amazing! One of our choices was the filet and it was prepared beautifully. The wedding cake was exactly as my daughter-in-law requested - identical to the picture and delicious! I highly recommend the Boar's Head Inn."--Wedding Wire
"When you have all of the ingredients, delicious food that is presented so well, lovely setting and a pleasant and hardworking staff, it is hard to understand why people would go elsewhere."--Anonymous
"I just spent this past weekend The Boar's Head with my sister and her bridal party to celebrate her bachelorette weekend. We were interested in having a rejuvenating and celebratory weekend exploring all that Charlottesville has to offer--history, excellent dining, eclectic shopping, centering spa experiences, and fantastic wineries and the Boar's Head delivered!
Walking the trails around the grounds is highly recommended--it feels as if you are on a country retreat in nature. It is worth your while to explore and see the beautiful grounds and wildlife.
The Boar's Head was the perfect location for us to stay while we explored the area--very centrally located and easy to get around. We did, though, spend a good deal of our weekend on site and thoroughly enjoyed it. The spa experience was terrific and centering--the massages were excellent as well as the nail service (Lisa is a talented and friendly technician). I personally loved the steam room and very nice amenities in the spa.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. Of particular note is the very comfortable bed! Housekeeping was really good and all of the service providers on site were incredibly friendly and helpful--always saying hello and very eager to help. The food at the cafe in the sports club was a perfect lunch option (the salmon sandwich in particular was exceptional!) the main dining was very good.
I am definitely going back on my next visit to Charlottesville and would be happy to go with my husband, as it is a very romantic location."--TripAdvisor, April 2017
"We spent two days being pampered. We had several massages, exfoliating body scrubs and facials and a mani/pedi. The staff was wonderfully capable and did not talk unless we initiated the conversation. The potions they used on us made us glow and feel soft and the wonderful aromas made us feel happy. We stayed in the little blue house off the main hotel. Our room had a little terrace overlooking the spa and the lake. The beds and pillows were comfortable; we woke refreshed and happy."
