USA Swimming Summer Training

May 12 - July 27, 2024

Stay tuned! Fall 2024 Registration is coming soon!

Boar’s Head Sports Club offers an 11-week Summer Training program with a focus on long course competition and preparing collegiate level swimmers for their Fall season.  This program is offered to all Senior and National level swimmers as well as pre senior swimmers with coach recommendation. This program is open to nonmembers.

Mission

To inspire and empower swimmers to achieve excellence in sport and life through age-specific and appropriate training for all athletes. Through coaching geared towards challenging and developing each athlete to the best of their abilities, our competitive program - overseen by Boar’s Head Lead USA Coaches Lauren Gander, Erin Lawson, Lindsey Paulson, and Mike DiFazio - exemplifies the standards and values of the sport of swimming.

Team Highlights

The team has grown immensely over its first three years, both in size and speed. This past year our National team competed at Futures, Toyota US Open, Speedo Winter Junior Nationals, and we are excited for Grey Davis to swim at the 2024 US Olympic Trials in June. Many of our age-group swimmers also qualified for state and national level meets.

Grey Davis, Alex Fuller, and Matthew Schultheis have been named to the 2024 Virginia All Star Team.

College Commitments: Three Senior/National swimmers Ellie Schundler, Grace McCardle, and Grey Davis all signed their National Letters of Intent this past November.

We are committed and invested in our future; our coaching staff has also grown over the years. One of our biggest goals is mentoring new and junior coaches; passing on our core philosophy and love for our sport. The future is so bright for our team!

Pre-Senior (14 & up with coach’s recommendation)  – up to three practices per week for summer season only

These swimmers train with a focus on stroke technique, aerobic endurance, and increasingly more complex practice sets to build upon the skills they already possess. We are now offering this group a three-day-per-week practice option to allow these swimmers to also train with their JSL summer teams. We introduce this group to a more rigorous training program in order to prepare them to compete at a higher level, if they so desire. Swimmers in this group will receive the additional coaching necessary to be competitive in both the USA as well as local high school programs. Coaches will occasionally combine this group with the Senior/National group for practice. This encourages team camaraderie and allows coaches to get to know more swimmers on a daily basis.

PreSenior: Member $325, Nonmember $425

Senior/National (Six swim practices and 2-3 dryland practices per week)

Primarily consists of ages 16 and older swimmers (based on coaches recommendation) who have the ability, desire, and commitment to advance their competitive swimming career. Stroke technique remains a cornerstone.  Emphasis is placed on leadership and community service, creating a positive environment for well-rounded young adults. Workouts are designed to challenge athletes to further develop technique, endurance, racing strategy, and mental fortitude with goals of qualifying as many swimmers as possible to state and national level meets.  This group includes swimmers who are training to compete at National level meets such as Futures, U.S. Open, and Olympic Trials.  Swimming in college is another main objective and assistance with the recruiting process is offered as well as obtaining USA Scholastic All American recognition. Practices last two hours and swimmers are expected to consistently commit to five or six practices per week plus two to three dryland practices. Our goal as coaches is to develop your swimmer from a holistic perspective - investing in social, academic, and athletic proficiency.

Senior: Member $650, Nonmember $780

Location Notes

The week of May 12 will be a modified schedule at Fry's Spring Beach Club. We will begin practices at the new Boar's Head Aquatics Center on Monday, May 20 and will switch to our summer schedule beginning Monday, June 10. Two drylands per week will be offered at times TBA.
